Welcome to the Devon Care Kite Mark
The Devon Care Kite Mark (DCKM) is a member's organisation of independent providers of care, private or voluntary, domiciliary or residential, caring for people with a wide variety of requirements such as the more elderly needing care and support, those with a dementia, and people with physical and / or mental health concerns. Our aim is to support proprietors to deliver the highest possible quality of care and wellbeing, along with the managers and indeed employees of care organisations within Devon and the surrounding areas including Torbay and Plymouth.
In these austere times, DCKM is the champion of quality in care addressing a host of issues facing care providers, commissioners of care and the entire Health and Social care sector, providing the opportunity to exchange and share information and ideas, promoting best practice and to be supportive in times of need.
DCKM also acts on behalf of its members, representing views, raising and addressing concerns, challenging local authorities, commissioners, regulatory bodies and indeed central Government where the issues of the elderly requiring care are blighted by cuts, politics or simply side lined.
Fundamentally DCKM has, and will continue to be the representative body that:
- Challenges commissioners to become more accountable in the commissioning, funding and personalisation in procuring high quality care
- Be a voice to regulatory bodies to the issues faced by care providers
- Shape policy, making the Safeguarding of vulnerable people a reality
- Raise concerns with Members of Parliament to help address challenges, shape initiatives and positively influence central Government thinking and policy making in relation to Health and Social Care
